We turn to the Wall Street Journal for the math on what it will cost to raise taxes on corporations retiree prescription drug coverage. This is the provision that has caused several corporations to take markdowns recently.
The bottom line: by closing this loophole which was originally created to dissuade companies from dumping retirees prescription costs into Medicare Part D the government could lose more than five times what it brings in.
The Employee Benefit Research Institute calculates that the 28% subsidy on average will run taxpayers $665 in 2011 and that the tax dispensation is worth $233. The same plan in Medicare costs $1,209. Given that Congress has already committed the original sin of creating a drug entitlement that crowds out private coverage, $233 in corporate tax breaks to avoid spending $1,209 seems like a deal. If one out of four retirees is now moved into Medicare, the public fisc will take on huge new liabilities.

In official Washington, some consider the Tea Party movement a fringe element in society, but voters across the nation feel closer to the Tea Party movement than they do to Congress.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 52% of U.S. voters believe the average member of the Tea Party movement has a better understanding of the issues facing America today than the average member of Congress. Only 30% believe that those in Congress have a better understanding of the key issues facing the nation.
When it comes to those issues, 47% think that their own political views are closer to those of the average Tea Party member than to the views of the average member of Congress. On this point, 26% feel closer to Congress.

Hi all ! As you know, April 15th (TAX Day) is coming up in a few weeks.
This year, as last year, The SCV TEA Party group is planning a rally in
front of City Hall on Valencia Blvd on that day from 4PM – 7PM. We will be letting Sacramento and Washington D.C. know what we think of the way they are taxing and “governing” us.
Personally, I don’t think I’m getting my money’s worth or that MY money is being spent/managed wisely by either location. And I’m extremely unhappy about it. So I’ll be exercising my freedom of speech and assembly (while I still have it) in front of City Hall on that day letting them know my intense dissatisfaction.
The 2010 Santa Clarita City Council election is an important one. Our city has grown over the past decade and we have an important choice to make about who will be Santa Clarita’s next City Council members.
David has been an active champion of homeowner and business concerns during the past five years. He has fought for neighborhoods facing ruin by overbuilt projects and he has served on two subcommittees on our city’s Economic Development Corporation. In short, he understands the needs of residents and business interests in our valley.
Most recently, David stood firmly with Bob Kellar in calling for tougher enforcement of our immigration laws. Early release of 30,000 prison inmates combined with a county budget of $1.2 Billion wasted on this problem will bring serious consequences for city services and safety in the next five years. David is already leading the way on this issue.

Angry or furious? Threatening or deeply, deeply sinister? From their angry pickup trucks to their extreme extremities, Mainstream Media News anchor Andrew Klavan delivers a hard-hitting, objective report on Americas angry tea party of anger.
We recently posted a video explaining how the Obama administration rules like an abusive spouse. I’ve received numerous phone calls, emails and personal contacts thanking me for the video. Here’s one of the latest which, I think is a good summary:
