Perfect example of Media Spin

Here is a perfect example of how the liberal media in this country are in the pocket of Obama and Democrats. This is their coverage of Claire McCaskill’s town hall meeting vs independent camera footage

First the news report

Looks like people are happy with the answers she’s giving and leave the meeting conforted

Now lets see some of the events the liberal media didn’t want you to see at that meeting

and this

Or this “people opposed to healthcare reform or have some concerns with it”

So as you can see the Liberal media does not what you to truly see what is happening all around this county. 86% of Americans are happy with the healthcare system. Yet these so called elected officials are willing to ram something down your throat to give themselves the power of life and death over you. Don’t give them that power.

By Assemblywoman Audra Strickland, 7/19/09

As our state attempts to solve our fiscal crisis, legislators grapple to find the best use of limited tax dollars. A quote from Vice President Hubert Humphrey has been repeated more than a few times in the Capitol lately:

It was once said that the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.

It is shameful what we are doing to our children, the elderly, the poor and disabled. Our Legislature is poised to cut funding to education, foster care, Medi-Cal and programs that help the disabled, while at the same time protecting billions of dollars in waste, fraud and abuse. Our budget is a reflection of our priorities. If children, the elderly and the disabled are our highest priority, then programs that help them should be protected first and foremost.

Tough love for fat people: Tax their food to pay for healthcare

LA Times, 7/29/09

When historians look back to identify the pivotal moments in the nation’s struggle against obesity, they might point to the current period as the moment when those who influenced opinion and made public policy decided it was time to take the gloves off.

As evidence of this new “get-tough” strategy on obesity, they may well cite a study released today by the Urban Institute titled “Reducing Obesity: Policy Strategies From the Tobacco Wars.”

In the debate over healthcare reform, the added cost of caring for patients with obesity-related diseases has become a common refrain: most recent is the cost-of-obesity study, also released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It finds that as obesity rates increased from 18.3% of Americans in 1998 to 25% in 2006, the cost of providing treatment for those patients’ weight-driven problems increased healthcare spending by $40 billion a year.

By Lois Henry, The Bakersfield Californian, 7/25/09

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous.

My entire working life, I’ve only ever heard of pensions — kind of
like how I’ve heard of unicorns.

And medical benefits? Sure I get ‘em, but I, and my coworkers, pay
an ever-increasing percentage to keep ‘em (and we’re lucky for that,
I might add).

So, although I know that Kern County department heads and managers
work hard and have huge responsibilities, I almost spit Diet Pepsi
through my nose when I saw how much taxpayers are kicking in for
their benefits and perks.

We’re paying a little more than a third of their salaries — 33.48
percent — into retirement alone. (Based on a yearly actuarial
review, that amount was bumped up from 30 percent a few weeks ago
even as the Board of Supervisors was pressing for more painful cuts
to public services. Sheesh!)

Finally, people matter more than smelt

July 27, 2009, 12:26 PM

A federal judge has stopped some of the crippling water policy by high school students pretending to be adult judges.  “Rather, operations of the huge pumps on the south side of the delta of the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers were shut down for weeks at a time during the most productive water season in order to preserve the silvery smelt.

It simply didn’t matter that shutting the pumps had no discernible effect on smelt population, but did have a major impact on farmers, farm workers and urban water users from the San Francisco Bay area through the San Joaquin Valley and Southern California.”
